Princeton Teen Survives Crash That Killed Her Family

Janessa Geisler, 18, survived a Highway 95 crash that killed her family; her mother and the other driver weren't wearing seat belts.

PRINCETON, MN — An 18-year-old Princeton woman is recovering from life-threatening injuries after a head-on crash on Highway 95 killed her parents, brother, and another driver, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Two of the four people killed were not wearing seat belts, the crash report shows.

The crash happened around 2:54 p.m. on July 13 on Highway 95 near 75th Avenue in Princeton Township, Mille Lacs County, the State Patrol said.

A 2026 Honda HR-V traveling westbound crossed the center line and struck a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta traveling eastbound.

A 2014 Nissan Altima following the Jetta was then struck by a tire that came off one of the vehicles, according to the report.

Killed in the crash were Jeffrey Allen Geisler, 60, who was belted; his wife, Susan Marie Geisler, 57, who was not; and their 16-year-old son, Steven Allen Geisler, who was belted, all of Princeton and riding in the Jetta.

Marilyn Diane Marshall, 80, of Princeton, the driver of the Honda HR-V, also died and was not wearing a seat belt, according to the report.

Janessa Marie Geisler, 18, was a passenger in the Jetta and was airlifted to North Memorial Health Hospital with life-threatening injuries. She was wearing her seat belt, the State Patrol said.

The driver of the Nissan Altima, Nadean Marie Gross, 60, of Princeton, was not injured.

The State Patrol said road conditions were dry and alcohol was not suspected in the crash.

A GoFundMe campaign organized by Andy Rosenau of Princeton, titled "Standing with Janessa After Heartbreaking Loss," has raised more than $31,000 toward a $100,000 goal to support Janessa's recovery. Organizers said funds will be transferred to Janessa.
