New Niche rankings use 2024 presidential election results to show which Twin Cities suburbs lean liberal or conservative.
TWIN CITIES, MN — A new ranking offers an updated look at the political makeup of Twin Cities suburbs, using data from the most recent presidential election.
Niche analyzed suburbs across the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area and categorized them by political leaning based on 2024 presidential election results compared to the national average.
The results show a mix of liberal-leaning inner-ring suburbs and more conservative-leaning outer suburbs, along with several communities that fall somewhere in between.

According to The New York Times’ detailed precinct-level election map, parts of Falcon Heights voted as high as +86 for Democrat Kamala Harris.
By comparison, Centerville leaned Republican, voting about +8.9 for Donald Trump.

Overall, the Twin Cities metro skews significantly more liberal than the rest of Minnesota. The most conservative community in the state, according to Niche, is Lake George, far outside the metro near St. Cloud.
