2 Hurt In Shooting At Eden Prairie Homecoming Game: Report

Eden Prairie High School's homecoming football game against Minnetonka was evacuated Friday night.

EDEN PRAIRIE, MN — Two people were reportedly injured in a shooting during Eden Prairie High School's homecoming football game against Minnetonka on Friday night, prompting an evacuation of the stadium.

Neither person's injuries are considered life-threatening. Police said the shooting happened around 8:40 p.m., KSTP reported.

Eden Prairie police later confirmed there was no active threat in the area, according to an update from Eden Prairie Schools at 9:52 p.m.

"We're evacuating homecoming. All visitors being directed Round Lake Park for reunification," the district said in its first message to families.

By 9:14 p.m., the district said there had been an emergency requiring a police response and told people to exit through the baseball diamonds or, if they needed to be picked up, to head to Round Lake Park. At 9:22 p.m., the district said police had secured the area, though evacuation was continuing for all attendees.

The district said it was working with Eden Prairie police, the Eden Prairie Fire Department and Hennepin County EMS to keep the area secure and support reunification.

People inside the high school were placed on a hold, limiting movement through the building, while staff supported students inside. The hold was lifted at 9:55 p.m., and everyone was directed to leave through the south doors and head to Round Lake Park.

Players, marching band members and families arriving at Round Lake Park were directed to the pavilion south of the tennis courts for reunification. As of 10:03 p.m., the district said the north parking lot would be unavailable for the foreseeable future and that the evacuation was moving slowly but smoothly.

Authorities have not released information about the people who were hurt or said whether anyone is in custody.

The game has been postponed. Eden Prairie High School Football said on X that play will resume Saturday at 11 a.m.
