Eden Prairie Teen Killed In Fatal I-94 Crash After Being Struck By Tesla
Drew Vonfisher, 18, of Eden Prairie died after crashing on southbound I-94, then being struck by a Tesla Model 3 after exiting his car.
MINNEAPOLIS, MN — An 18-year-old Eden Prairie man died Sunday night after crashing on southbound Interstate 94 in Minneapolis and then being struck by another vehicle after getting out of his car, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Drew Vonfisher was driving south on I-94 near Olson Memorial Highway around 9:50 p.m. Sunday when his 2005 Ford Focus struck a crash attenuator dividing the highway's main lanes from the Lyndale Avenue exit, the State Patrol said.
Vonfisher got out of his car after the initial crash and was then struck by a 2021 Tesla Model 3, troopers said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Tesla's driver, Austin Muigai Muya, 21, of Champlin, and a passenger, Samia Ali Abdirizak, 22, of Coon Rapids, were not injured.

Troopers said the road was dry and alcohol was not suspected in the crash. Cardinal Towing, Minneapolis Fire, Minneapolis EMS and Hennepin County Medical Center also responded.
The State Patrol listed the incident report as complete as of Monday morning.
