• Charges: Man attacked opposing player during Inver Grove Heights soccer tournament (bringmethenews.com) — A weekend soccer tournament at an Inver Grove Heights park turned violent when a player from West St. Paul allegedly punched an opposing player, causing facial injuries that required surgery. Police say witnesses described the suspect as a repeatedly aggressive player, and he now faces felony-level assault charges. He remains in Dakota County Jail on conditional bond, with a court date set for mid-September.

What we know about Minnesota nurse found dead with her two sons (mashable.com) — A mother and her two adult sons were found dead inside their Inver Grove Heights townhouse in what police say appears to be a double murder-suicide involving the older son. Authorities are still investigating what led to the tragedy and have not released many details. Friends and colleagues are remembering the mother, a longtime nurse, as a dedicated caregiver while a fundraiser supports funeral costs.
