TWIN CITIES, MN — Fourth of July activities across the Twin Cities could have extra sparkle in 2026, the 250th anniversary, or semiquincentennial, of the Declaration of Independence.
The holiday falls on a Saturday in the middle of a three-day weekend, July 3-5. To help you fit it all in on your 4th of July calendar, Patch has put together a guide to fireworks and other celebrations in and around the Twin Cities.

Minneapolis' signature Fourth of July celebration returns to the downtown riverfront, with festivities running from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Water Works Park and along West River Parkway.
The all-day event is expected to draw more than 50,000 people. The day begins with a Run the Parks 5K and 2K Walk at 8 a.m., followed by outdoor yoga, food trucks opening at 11 a.m., trivia, dance performances and a 7:30 p.m. aerial performance by Unicorn Art Circus. Sawyer's Dream, an Americana rock band, is set to perform from 8 to 10 p.m. at Mill Ruins Park before fireworks over the Mississippi River at 10 p.m.

West River Parkway will be closed from 11th Avenue South to Fourth Avenue North beginning at 10 a.m. Free Metro Transit rides are available from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Stillwater: Riverfront Fireworks Over the St. Croix
Stillwater's Fourth of July celebration fills the downtown riverfront with cannon demonstrations, live music and a fireworks show over the St. Croix River and Historic Lift Bridge. Battery I, 1st U.S. Artillery fires live cannon demonstrations at Mulberry Point at 3, 4, 5 and 7 p.m. Hero's End performs a free concert at 5:30 p.m. in Lowell Park, followed by Audio Circus at 8 p.m. The St. Croix Jazz Orchestra plays Pioneer Park Bandshell from 7 to 9 p.m. A designated viewing area for veterans is available at the Pedestrian Plaza in Lowell Park.

Woodbury: Hometown Celebration
Woodbury's Fourth of July Hometown Celebration is set for Saturday at M Health Fairview Sports Center with festivities beginning at 6 p.m. and fireworks at 10 p.m. Entertainment includes The Silver Alchemist and bounce houses. Families can use Madison's Place playground and the outdoor splash pad, open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Food trucks on site include Matt's Bar Food Truck, Thai Thai Street Food, Whiskey Creek BBQ, Kona Ice and others.
What: Woodbury Fourth of July Hometown Celebration
When: Saturday, July 4, 6 p.m. (fireworks at 10 p.m.)
Where: M Health Fairview Sports Center, 4125 Radio Dr., Woodbury
Eagan's July 4th Funfest runs July 2-4 at the Eagan Festival Grounds. The Fourth of July schedule includes a 10 a.m. parade along Yankee Doodle Road between Blue Cross Road and Central Parkway, an 11 a.m. kids dance at the Ambassador Stage and carnival activities throughout the day. Fireworks are set for 10 p.m. A carnival preview runs 4-8 p.m. Thursday, July 2, with carnival activities beginning at 4 p.m. Friday, July 3.

Apple Valley's Freedom Days celebration includes an 8 a.m. Fun Run at Johnny Cake Ridge Park West, an 11 a.m. Red, White, and Barbecue event at American Legion Post 1776, a 1 p.m. parade and a pre-fireworks party from 3 to 9:30 p.m. at Johnny Cake Ridge Park East. Woody is scheduled to perform from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m. A rain date is set for 9:30 p.m. Sunday, July 5.

Lake Minnetonka/Excelsior: Firecracker Run and Lakefront Fireworks
The Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Chamber of Commerce hosts the only public Fourth of July fireworks event on Lake Minnetonka. The day begins with the Excelsior Firecracker Run at 7:30 a.m., with 10K, 5K and 1-mile options through Excelsior, Shorewood, Deephaven and Greenwood. Family activities, live music and food vendors are planned at Excelsior Commons throughout the day.

Shakopee: Star-Spangled Night at Valleyfair
Shakopee's biggest Fourth of July fireworks show takes place at Valleyfair, where the amusement park hosts its annual Star-Spangled Night celebration. The park is open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on July 4, with rides, waterpark access and food available throughout the day. Fireworks cap the night at approximately 10 p.m. Active military and veterans receive free admission July 4 through July 7.

Richfield: Fourth of July Festival
Richfield's Fourth of July celebration runs from 3 to 10:30 p.m. at Veterans Park, with food, drinks and live music leading up to fireworks at 10 p.m. The day also includes a parade and food trucks. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early and bring a chair or blanket.
