Mother's Day Forecast: Sunny But Cool In The Twin Cities

Minnesota moms will get a dry holiday, but families may still want to bring a jacket for brunch, church, or outdoor plans.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Mother's Day is shaping up to be sunny but cool in the Twin Cities.

The National Weather Service says Sunday will be sunny in the metro, with a high near 59 degrees. Northwest winds are expected at 10 to 15 mph, making it feel a bit cooler at times.

Sunday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 37 degrees. Winds will ease in the evening, according to the forecast.

The rest of the weekend looks dry, too.

Friday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 69 degrees. There is a slight chance of showers after 1 a.m. Friday night, but Saturday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high near 63.

Saturday could be breezy, with northwest winds of 10 to 15 mph and gusts as high as 25 mph.

The next better chance for rain in the Twin Cities arrives Monday night, when showers and thunderstorms are possible. The weather service gives the metro a 50 percent chance of precipitation Monday night, followed by a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Tuesday.

Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 39.

Sunday, Mother's Day: Sunny, with a high near 59.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 67.

Monday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 47. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
