Nearly 9,900 Remote Gig Workers To Be Laid Off By Minneapolis Company

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — A Minneapolis-based staffing marketplace plans to permanently lay off nearly 9,900 remote gig workers nationwide, including 23 in Minnesota, according to a new WARN notice filed with the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.

Ideal US Talent Worker OpCo LLC told the state that approximately 9,891 remote employees will be laid off beginning July 1. The company cited business restructuring and the transfer of its contracts to a third-party partner, according to the notice.

Ideal operates a flexible staffing marketplace that connects businesses with temporary, shift-based workers. The company says it helps workers find flexible shifts while helping organizations scale their workforce on demand.

The company listed a facility address at 3311 East Old Shakopee Road in Minneapolis, but the affected workers are dispersed across the country and do not have a single site of employment, the WARN notice states.

All of the affected workers are temporary gig workers. Ideal is encouraging them to apply for open positions with the third-party partner, according to the filing.

The workers are not represented by a union, and bumping rights do not exist. The only listed affected job title is "Ideal Worker."
