Hearts & Hammers Receives $11,000 to Help Roseville and Shoreview Homeowners

Hearts & Hammers has received two local grants to provide free exterior home repairs in Roseville and Shoreview. The Roseville Area Community Foundation awarded the organization $5,000, and the neighboring Shoreview Community Foundation provided an additional $6,000.

The grants will help Hearts & Hammers serve low-income homeowners who are 60 or older, U.S. military veterans, surviving spouses of veterans, or people living with disabilities.

Hearts & Hammers is currently looking for eligible homeowners in both communities. Roseville and Shoreview residents who need help maintaining the exterior of their homes are encouraged to apply now.

“We know there are homeowners in Roseville and Shoreview who could use this help but may not know that our program is available to them,” said Trey Wodele, Executive Director of Hearts & Hammers. “These grants allow us to address deferred maintenance before it becomes major deterioration. We’re grateful to both foundations for investing in their neighbors and helping us reach the people who need us.”

Hearts & Hammers provides free exterior home improvements completed by volunteer teams. Projects may include exterior painting, minor siding and trim repair, porch and stair repair, landscaping, handrails, ramps and other improvements that help homeowners safely maintain and remain in their homes.

Eligible applicants must own and live in a single-family home, meet the program’s income guidelines and plan to remain in the home for at least two years. There is no cost to the homeowner.

Roseville and Shoreview homeowners can learn more and apply at heartsandhammers.org/homeowners. Family members, neighbors and community organizations are also encouraged to share the program with someone who may benefit.

Founded in Roseville in 1997, Hearts & Hammers now serves homeowners throughout the seven-county Twin Cities metropolitan area, as well as Warroad, Minnesota, and the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Its work is made possible by volunteers, community foundations, businesses and other local partners.
