Event Details

Central Park Place, Central Park Pl, Woodbury, MN, 55125

Why are we fascinated by The Great Hinckley Fire?

People are fascinated by the Great Hinckley Fire of 1894 because it is one of the most devastating and intense natural disasters in American history.

In just four hours, a massive firestorm destroyed 400 square miles of land and several towns, officially claiming over 400 lives.

A fantastic presentation is on the horizon that will be facilitated by Historian Dr. Bill Schrankler, from the Woodbury Heritage Society, in partnership with the City of Woodbury, Park and Recreation Division.

Schrankler will delve into the catastrophic 1894 firestorm that burned hundreds of square miles and claimed over 400 lives and more as well as our local response from Washington County.
