Sports run deep in Creve Coeur, and Parkway North High School has long been at the heart of it. It’s no surprise some standout talent once wore the Viking uniform. Today we're celebrating five unforgettable athletes from Parkway North High School who made a name for themselves well beyond the hometown field.


Ruth Harker – U.S. National Soccer Team Trailblazer

A standout multi-sport athlete at Parkway North High School, Ruth Harker made her mark in soccer as one of the first goalkeepers to represent the U.S. women’s national team. After setting multiple records at the University of Missouri–St. Louisβ€”including 38 career shutoutsβ€”she appeared in three matches during the national team’s debut year in 1985. Brad Edelman – NFL Pro Bowler Turned Visual Artist

Parkway North alum Brad Edelman played eight seasons as an offensive guard for the New Orleans Saints, earning a Pro Bowl nod and helping lead the team to its first playoff appearance in 1987. Following his NFL career, Edelman found success behind the lens as a fine art photographer in New Orleans. He was later honored by the St. Louis Jewish Sports Hall of Fame. Mary Koboldt – Olympic Midfielder With Big Ten Brilliance

A Parkway North graduate, Mary Koboldt starred as a midfielder at the University of Iowa, earning All-American honors and leading the Hawkeyes to four NCAA tournament appearances. She later represented the U.S. in field hockey at the 1988 Seoul Olympics and won silver at the 1987 Pan Am Games. Koboldt was inducted into the Parkway Alumni Hall of Fame in 2014. Johnathan Edwards – Colts Cornerback

Johnathan Edwards went from all-conference standout at Parkway North to the only undrafted rookie to make the Indianapolis Colts' 53-man roster in 2025. After strong seasons at Indiana State and Tulane, the cornerback impressed scouts with his athleticism and coverage ability. He made his first NFL start just weeks into his rookie season. Sug Sutton – WNBA Triple-Double Maker & Missouri Hoops Star

A Parkway North graduate and standout guard at the University of Texas, Sug Sutton made history in 2023 by recording the first triple-double in Phoenix Mercury franchise history. Sutton was drafted 36th overall in the 2020 WNBA Draft by the Washington Mystics, where she returned in 2024 after her stint with Phoenix.
