Sports run deep in Fenton, and Rockwood Summit High School has long been at the heart of it. It’s no surprise some standout talent once wore the Falcons uniform. Today we're celebrating five unforgettable athletes from Rockwood Summit High School who made a name for themselves well beyond the hometown field.


Jackson Rutledge – First-Round MLB Draft Pick & Nationals Pitcher

Rockwood Summit High School’s Jackson Rutledge was one of the top high school pitchers in Missouri in 2017. After a brief stint at Arkansas and a breakout season at San Jacinto College, Rutledge became the 17th overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft by the Washington Nationals. He made his MLB debut in 2023, earning his first career win against the Braves later that season. (Sources: MLB.com, Baseball-Reference)


Madeline Haynes – Four-Time State Finalist & Summit’s First Girls Wrestling Champ

Madeline Haynes made history for Rockwood Summit in 2025 as the school’s first girls wrestling state champion after three straight runner-up finishes. She capped off an undefeated senior season (44-0) with a dominant performance at the MSHSAA Class 2 Championships. A multi-time Fargo and Super 32 All-American, Haynes now wrestles at Lindenwood University and is one of Missouri’s most decorated high school wrestlers in recent years. Brandon Williams – Super Bowl Champ & Pro Bowl Defensive Tackle

Rockwood Summit alum Brandon Williams became a household name in the NFL thanks to his dominant presence on the defensive line. After earning all-state honors in high school and breaking records at Missouri Southern State, he was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in 2013 and played nine seasons in the league. Williams earned a Pro Bowl nod in 2018 and ended his career with the Kansas City Chiefs, winning a Super Bowl in 2023 before retiring in 2024. Mya Stegen – Soccer State Champ & Multi-Sport Athlete

A versatile athlete at Rockwood Summit, Mya Stegen was part of the school’s 2018 state championship soccer team and also played basketball and cross country. At Webster University, she became a fixture in the starting lineup, earning First-Team All-SLIAC honors in 2023 while racking up goals and assists from the midfield. Raina Bryant – Tenacious Baskeball Point Guard

Known for her intensity and heart on the court, Raina Bryant played point guard for Rockwood Summit and earned All-Conference Honorable Mention honors her senior year. After leading her team to a conference championship, she continued her basketball career at Principia College, where she brought her signature energy and defensive skills to the collegiate level.
