FZN wrestling completes historic season!

Junior Carsten Burkemper claims the state title at 132 lbs.

FZN Wrestling competed at the MSHSAA State Championships this weekend in Columbia, Missouri, capping off a historic season with four medalists—the program's best showing in over 20 years:

  • Junior Carsten Burkemper (132 lbs): 1st Place — FZN’s first individual State Champion in 18 years!
  • Senior Cole Aguirre: 2nd Place — Marking the second State runner-up finish of his career.
  • Senior Deacon Moran: 3rd Place — Securing his third career State medal.
  • Junior Patrick Provost: 4th Place

The Panthers finished in 7th place overall, the program's first top-ten finish since 2014. This capped an incredible year for the team, which included capturing the combined GAC Tournament title in January for the first time since 1985. Dominic Ferranto (106 lbs), Drake Weston (150 lbs), and Jack Bals (113 lbs) also represented the Panthers with strong performances at the state level.

Record-Breaking Careers The senior class left an indelible mark on the record books. Cole Aguirre, earning his second silver medal, set a new school record for career victories, finishing his tenure with an astounding 178 wins.
