Jane Monheit is a jazz and adult contemporary vocalist with a deep passion for the Great American Songbook. In addition to touring, she also writes English lyrics for Ivan Lins, and uses the knowledge and experience she has gained both at Manhattan School Of Music and on the legendary bandstands of the world to educate and uplift students worldwide. Jane resides in Los Angeles with her husband, drummer Rick Montalbano, and their son. Max Haymer on piano, Luca Alemanno on bass and Rick Montalbano on drums.

Stryper Hard Rock
After four decades of producing, recording and performing high-caliber music, prolific rock foursome Stryper continues to relentlessly show itself as a renewed force with unquenchable firepower.
In addition to kicking off an ambitious 40th anniversary tour in fall of 2024, the group releases its 16th studio project, the triumphant When We Were Kings (Frontiers Music Srl), on September 13, 2024. The 11-track project fortifies Stryper’s signature sonic output by showcasing tight harmonies, riff-infused instrumentation and impassioned vocals.
Among the album’s most spiritually straightforward songs, hard-charging track “Trinity” speaks to the mysterious unity of the Father, Son and Spirit, while thundering tune “End of Days” addresses the last days prior to the apocalypse. Elsewhere, guitars loom large and a captivating chorus encompasses the title track focused on the futility of dwelling on the past.
Further song themes run the gamut from overcoming bitterness and showing mercy (“Unforgiveable”) to finding common ground in relationships (“Divided by Design”) and dealing with deceit and unfaithfulness (“Betrayed by Love”).
Stryper also has made solid progress on a much-anticipated Kickstarter-fueled documentary film. More than 1,700 backers helped the band far exceed its original funding goal, earning a “Projects We Love” tag on the popular crowdfunding platform.
When it comes to groundbreaking bands in the Christian hard-rock genre, Stryper is renowned for its trademark style of “heavenly metal,” remarkable crossover success and venerable endurance. The group ascended to prominence in the 1980s with Billboard Top 40 hits like “Calling on You,” “Honestly” and “Always There for You.”
Stryper’s career album sales exceed 10 million worldwide, including 1986’s standard-bearing multiplatinum release To Hell with the Devil. The band also made history when it notched two songs simultaneously in MTV’s Top 10 with videos “Free” and “Honestly.”
Today, over 40 years after emerging from the southern California nightclub scene, Stryper continues to record, tour and perform for devoted fans around the globe. Comprising three original members including brothers Michael Sweet (lead vocals, guitar) and Robert Sweet (drums), Oz Fox (guitar) and newest bandmate, veteran bassist Perry Richardson (formerly of Firehouse), the group finds itself continuing to create their finest, most commanding music yet.<a href="https://eventvesta.com/events/156206/t/tickets" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">View Tickets &amp; More Info</a>

Nellie McKay presents GEE WHIZ: The Get Away From Me Demos, playing the entire album.
When Get Away From Me was released on February 10, 2004, Rolling Stone gave the album four stars. McKay made her national TV debut on “The Late Show with David Letterman,” and the record landed in the Billboard Top 200.
“But if older reviewers—mostly men—scoffed at her juvenile assessment of George Bush and world politics, with twenty years of hindsight, we can now say that she was a lot more astute than many of the scholars writing at the time,” notes Audiophix. “Nellie McKay—and her debut album—were not perfect. They were better than that. They were real. And in a year that saw seminal punk from Green Day (American Idiot) and seminal hip hop from Kanye (College Dropout), which came out the same day as Get Away From Me, that was enough to make it the best album of the year.”
Revisiting the album, Salon named it “one of the great pop albums of the early 21st century.” Popmatters writes, “Two decades later, the circumstances and names differ, but the anguish remains the same, as politicians, dictators, and other killers make life hell for ordinary citizens.”
Nellie McKay has released an eclectic bunch of critically acclaimed albums, her songs and sound ranging from jazz to pop to indefinable, and with her latest, HEY GUYS, WATCH THIS, ably assisted by The Carpenter Ants, she taps into the soulful sounds of West Virginia. Coming soon, the GET AWAY FROM ME demos on Omnivore Records.
She's won a Broadway Theatre World Award for Polly Peachum in The Threepenny Opera, co-created/starred in off-Broadway's Old Hats, created musical biographies of Barbara Graham, Rachel Carson, Joan Rivers, &amp; Billy Tipton ('Best Concerts of the Year' - The New York Times).
As well as acting in the films PS I Love You &amp; Downtown Express, Nellie provided music for Rumor Has It, Monster-In-Law, Last Holiday, Gasland, Private Life, &amp; PS I Love You. Her TV appearances include David Letterman, Conan O'Brien, Craig Ferguson, The View, and Jimmy Dore, and her music has been heard on Mad Men, Weeds, Boardwalk Empire, Grey's Anatomy, NCIS, and Nurse Jackie. Most recently Nellie was nominated for an Ovation Award for her performance in Ethan Coen's A Play is a Poem at the Mark Taper Forum.
McKay is a recipient of PETA's Humanitarian Award for her dedication to animal rights, &amp; she is a vocal critic of endless war, capitalism, &amp; the two-party system that sustains them.<a href="https://eventvesta.com/events/162618/t/tickets" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">View Tickets &amp; More Info</a>

“She is an excellent player with a level of versatility that enables her to move between musical styles with great ease, and a sense of creativity that pushes the boundary of a straight traditional sound without trampling all over it.” — Irish Echo “She is already a rising star in the Celtic skies…her musical ideas are savvy and sophisticated, but her throaty, gusting style is deeply banked in the Scottish and Cape Breton traditions.” — Boston Globe Effervescent and engaging, Boston-based fiddler Hanneke Cassel’s fiddle music fuses influences from the Isle of Skye and Cape Breton with Americana grooves and musical innovations. She has performed and traveled across North America, Europe, Australia and Asia. Hanneke’s music is a blend of the contemporary and traditional, described by the Boston Globe as “exuberant and rhythmic, somehow wild and innocent, delivered with captivating melodic clarity and an irresistible playfulness.” The Hanneke Cassel Band features Jenna Moynihan on 5-string fiddle/vocals and Keith Murphy on guitar/vocals. Jenna Moynihan is regarded as one of the best of the new generation of freestyle fiddlers. Versatile and inventive, her fiddling style draws strongly from the Scottish tradition, but is also influenced by American, Irish, and Swedish styles. Jenna has a duo with cutting edge harpist Màiri Chaimbeul and is a regular fiddler for the Seamus Egan Project. A dedicated teacher, Jenna teaches at various camps and serves as Assistant Professor of Strings at Berklee College of Music. Newfoundland-born guitarist Keith Murphy is a rhythmic powerhouse on guitar and a traditional singer of rare finesse. A native of Newfoundland, he has lived in New England for many years where he has been an influential presence in the traditional music scene through his work with many respected bands, as a tune writer and as director of the Northern Roots Festival in Brattleboro, VT. He has four solo recordings of traditional songs, the most recent being Bright As Amber (2023). Together, the Hanneke Cassel Band creates a cutting-edge acoustic sound that retains the integrity and spirit of the Scottish tradition.<a href="https://eventvesta.com/events/144690/t/tickets" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">View Tickets &amp; More Info</a>

Third Degree Glass

It's been 24 years since co-founders Doug Auer and Jim McKelvey opened the doors to Third Degree Glass. And while the building has changed and the surrounding neighborhood continues to grow, the core mission remains the same: share our passion for glass with the local community.
We're inviting some friends to celebrate with us and compete in the annual Death Match in the hot shop: two teams, amazing talent, one winner chosen by you.
PLUS: It's the third year for Delish on Delmar, a fun mix of food festival, makers market, and block party, right outside our building happening THE SAME NIGHT! Two great events in one.
Read below for all the details of the night.
➤Glassblowing Demos 6:15 pm: We're creating another St. Louis landmark for our holiday window display. 8:15 pm: TDG vs. SAA. We're welcoming back Mario Clarke and his team from the Springfield Art Association to battle it out with our artists for a competition with hot glass, sweat and maybe some tears. The losing piece? It gets smashed with a GIANT PUMPKIN graciously donated by Eckert's.
➤Flame Demo at 7:15 pm: Get up close and personal with a flame artist on the torch.
➤Live Music by Friday Jam featuring our glassblower Eve Cascella of Snazzy Glass
➤Exhibition: Catch the inspiring exhibition, The Wearer Worn, by NC Qin of Australia, on display through Oct. 31.
➤Studio Experiences: Every studio has a seasonal experience. Sign up for one, or hit a couple!<a href="https://eventvesta.com/events/164929/t/tickets" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">View&nbsp;Tickets &amp; More&nbsp;Info</a>
