The Forever Soldiers: Americans at War in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Hundreds of thousands fought in Afghanistan and
Iraq after 9/11, and this presentation examines why
they volunteered, their training and service in
combat zones, and their return home. It includes a
discussion of the contractors and different groups
that fought, including large numbers of those in the
National Guard and Reserves alongside significant
numbers of women. The lecture by Kyle Longley places their service
within the longer history of Americans who have
fought and served.
