Scam - Beware

Doordash / Instacart etc.

If you don't use DoorDash / InstaCart or anything like it, you can probably skip this.

I really wondered if I should post this or not as I didn't want to give people an idea they didn't already have. But I felt that NOT posting this would be more of an injustice than posting. So here it goes.

Just wanted to let everyone know of a scam that hit me. Luckily, it was not in NH and was not a house that I owned, but the owner of the house is still dealing with this.

I placed an order for groceries that was delivered by InstaCart. Have done this dozens of times. About 45 days later, the owner of the house contacted me and said "Do you know a xxx". I didn't. He searched her name and found out she was affiliated with InstaCart as a delivery person. She was claiming that she fell on the property and was suing the owner for injuries, as he received a letter from on "online" lawyer stating she had injuries. Now the property that I was staying in was 100% problem free. She claimed she fell over "loose bricks" in the driveway. I took several photos and videos showing that the owner was not negligent at all. But he is still fighting it and will probably end up in court. Come to find out, it is not the first time this person has tried this scam, but up to this point never came out ahead. But the owners of the properties need to deal with this hassle. It could be you next.

So beware, delivery drivers have an inherent right to be on your property and CAN sue you if they are injured. Just make sure you aren't liable (loose bricks, broken stairs, loose railings, tripping hazard, dogs, etc) or you could be in trouble. Even if the person really did not hurt themselves.
