"Henry Dearborn - From Captain to Cabinet Secretary", a presentation by George Morrison
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2026 from 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Stratham Historical Society and Wiggin Memorial Library will jointly sponsor a history program, "Henry Dearborn - From Captain to Cabinet Secretary". The presenter will be George Morrison, and the program is made possible by a grant thru New Hampshire Humanities. In this presentation, Mr. Morrison explores the life and career of Henry Dearborn, born in North Hampton, New Hampshire in 1751. He began his career as a young doctor before joining the Continental Army, where he served for over eight years. Post-war he served two terms in Congress, later as a cabinet secretary, and was, before retiring in 1824, President Monroe's Minister to Portugal. But in 1818 he found himself in the middle of a controversy that would extend to 1843. Would you rather be elected governor, or insist on telling the truth? JOIN US ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 9 at 7:00 PM. This is a FREE program and is open to the public. LOCATION: Morgera Community Room, Stratham Fire Department, corner of Winnicutt Road and Portsmouth Avenue, Stratham.
