Woman From Merrimack Arrested On Multiple Deadly Weapon Charges After Chase Through Londonderry

Heather Lewis, who has been arrested several times, was chased by cops, troopers, accused of barricading herself inside her GTI Wednesday.

LONDONDERRY, NH — A woman from Merrimack, previously arrested on drunken driving and crash charges, was arrested again on Wednesday morning after being accused of barricading herself inside a car after a chase with police and state troopers in Londonderry.

Around 1 a.m., police in Londonderry encountered a “suspicious vehicle,” a 2016 Volkswagen GTI, parked near the Citizen Bank on Route 102. State police troopers were requested to assist. Officers approached the car, and when they did, the driver fled westbound, and a chase ensued toward Hudson. At the town line, the driver pulled into the Circle K gas station.

“Members of the Londonderry and Hudson police departments attempted to stop the vehicle … from leaving the gas station,” a report stated, “but the driver drove down an embankment, hit a guardrail, and got onto Route 102 back in the direction of Londonderry.”

The driver, later identified as Heather Lewis, 34, of Merrimack, got onto Interstate 93 north at Exit 4, and state police took over the chase. Troopers deployed tire-deflation devices to stop the GTI, but she continued driving north, state police said.

Lewis entered onto Interstate 293 and then attempted to drive north in the southbound lane of the highway, a report said, and a state trooper used their cruiser to stop the Volkswagen.

Lewis was accused of refusing to exit the car, and for two hours, police and troopers were negotiating with her to exit the car. Later, the state police K-9 unit and “less-lethal munitions” were used before she was taken into custody. Lewis was taken to Elliot Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Lewis was charged with multiple counts of felony reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, disobeying an officer, resisting arrest or detention, criminal mischief, and operating after suspension. She was held and will be arraigned in Manchester District Court later this week, state police said.

Lewis has been arrested several times in the past few years.

In July 2023, Lewis was arrested on driving under the influence, third offense, after an incident on North Main Street in Concord. According to court paperwork, the charges were nolle prossed in November 2023 after her public defender gave notice to the prosecution, “that any road or way alleged to be a public highway in this case must be formally proved.”

In July 2023, Lewis was accused of attempting to grab a Nashua police officer’s gun, a felony, as well as resisting arrest. The case was filed in March 2024 after she was indicted on the charges. After several hearings, Lewis received a plea deal on the resisting charge, which led to the gun charge being dropped in March 2025. She received a 12-month sentence, deferred for one year, pending good behavior, maintaining employment, and substance use disorder and mental health treatment, according to the court. Lewis was also not allowed to possess or own a firearm.

Lewis was arrested on felony reckless conduct, two resisting arrest or detention, two criminal mischief, reckless operation, disobeying a police officer, conduct after an accident, and speeding-25-plus mph over the speed limit charges as well as an operating without lights and stop signs; yield signs violations after being accused of crashing her RAV4 into a state police cruiser after a chase on Interstate 93 north near Exit 17 in Concord in August 2025. The case is still making its way through Concord District Court. A competency hearing was slated for Jan. 9 but canceled. Merrimack County pretrial services also filed a noncompliance report on Dec. 15, 2025. Lewis is due in court for a probable cause hearing on Jan. 23.

According to superior court records, on Jan. 5, her plea deal in the attempted Nashua gun-grab case was reopened after she filed a motion to suspend the deferred sentence. Lewis is due back in Hills South on March 19 for the hearing.

Other criminal charges against Lewis date back to 2013, according to the clerk of courts.
