The Nash Casino Presents $2.4 Million to Local Nonprofits
Over $33 million contributed throughout The Nash's first 18 months of operation
Nashua, NH - The Nash Casino, New Hampshire’s largest charitable gaming venue, has once again broken the record for the largest charitable contribution in state history, presenting about $2.4 million to 12 New Hampshire nonprofit organizations on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026. This extraordinary amount was accumulated from the combined revenues generated by games of chance, historical horse racing (HHR) machines and video lottery terminals during the month of August.
“It’s always a joy to see so many worthy organizations receiving what are often the largest checks they have ever received, even after years of fundraising,” said Eric Althaus, general manager of The Nash Casino. “We love hearing how they plan on using the funds to help more people in their community.”
This is the sixth consecutive month the venue has contributed over $2.2 million to charitable partners. The Nash has raised a combined $14.5 million in that period. In the past 18 months, The Nash generated $33.5 million for New Hampshire nonprofits.

When Chester Lions Club President John Murray first saw how large their check was going to be he was floored. Before this, he said the largest sum they’ve ever raised was about $3,000.
“Our first reaction was shock,” Murray said. “Our second thought was ‘this is going to help a lot of people.’”

Sheryl Castellano, treasurer of the NH Snowmobile Museum at Bear Brook State Park, said the funds will help support the museum’s move after 40 years at its longtime home, a former Civilian Conservation Corps building that has fallen into disrepair.
“This generous contribution will help keep the history of snowmobiling alive and will bring us one step closer to funding a new building for our museum,” Castellano said.
According to state law, 35% of games of chance revenues and 8.75% of HHR machine revenues are set aside for two nonprofits assigned to each week of gaming. The combined revenues are split evenly between the two nonprofits. In addition, 10% of games of chance and 16.5% of HHR revenues are contributed to the state Education Trust Fund. New VLT revenue is taxed at 31%. Of that amount, 35% will be contributed to local charities. The remainder is contributed to the state’s General Fund, Education Trust Fund and other state programs. In the month of August, The Nash sent $2,525,613.81 to the state fund.
