Salem's Scottish Highlands Unveils New Range During 30th Anniversary Celebration

SALEM, NH — A ribbon-cutting in Salem marked two milestones for Campbell's Scottish Highlands Golf Course this month: the opening of The Range at Scottish Highlands and the course's 30th anniversary.

The Southern New Hampshire Chamber of Commerce said it joined the Campbell family, community members and golf enthusiasts for the event at 72 Brady Avenue.

The ceremony was intended to recognize more than a new practice facility. It also marked three decades of family ownership and the course's connection to the community. The Chamber described the event as a celebration of the Campbell family's long presence in local golf and its continuing investment in the property.

The new facility includes a 330-yard driving range with natural turf and synthetic teeing areas, according to the release. It also features an 8,000-square-foot putting green, a 50,000-square-foot short game area for chipping, pitching and bunker play, and a simulator bay for year-round practice and play.

The Chamber said the range is designed for golfers of different ages and skill levels, from first-time players to more experienced golfers working on their swing. Guests at the event were offered refreshments, golf-themed desserts and remarks from the Campbell family.

The event also included a look back at the property's history. Scenes from the 1968 film, "The Thomas Crown Affair," starring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway, were filmed on the Scottish Highlands property.

The Campbell family has spent 30 years building the course into a destination where families gather, friendships are formed, and community members come together. It also credited the family with continued investment in the site and a focus on customer service and the golf experience.
