About 15 minutes later, an officer radioed to a second officer, accusing Higginbottom of getting agitated about the lack of a procedure at the office, according to scanner chatter. The officer said she was escorted from the building.

Another officer ran a check on her later, just before 1:15 p.m. Dispatch said Higginbottom was convicted of DUI in 2020 and had prior charges from 2007, 2009, and 2017, although they did not say what the charges were. According to court records, Salem District Court entered the DUI conviction in April 2020.

About 15 minutes later, a tow truck was requested and an officer said Higginbottom was taken into custody.

Higginbottom appeared in Salem District Court on Tuesday and entered a not guilty plea and a waiver of arraignment. A motion was also made to preserve evidence.
