WHAT WE'RE WORKING ON:

Lots of news out of last night's regular Township Committee meeting, from lawsuit settlements to a private nonprofit's plans to build a baseball academy in the western part of the township. Look for those stories today and tomorrow.

We also have the latest column from Katia Raina, who writes about the local author scene. This week, she puts the focus on local teen librarians.

EVENTS:

• The Ocean County Office of Veterans Services & Workforce NJ's Veterans Assistance will be at the County Connection at the Ocean County Mall, 1210 Hooper Ave., Toms River, from 10 a.m. to noon today. They'll provide information on employment assistance, health services and other benefits available to eligible veterans. 

• The 's five-part reading and discussion series on the American Civil War continues at 7 p.m. today. "Let's Talk About It: Making Sense of the Civil War" is led by Patricia H. Burke and features discussion of several Civil War-themed books.
