WHAT WE'RE WORKING ON:

Today brings an important announcement from me, so please check back with us a little later in the morning for that. 

Our regular fishing column, coming up first thing, takes a look at what local anglers hope will be an early start to the spring striper run. 

The focus on fish continues with an article about an effort to encourage New Jersey residents to think locally when it comes to seafood.

We've also got the latest local sports news on the way, with a roundup from contributor Andrew Jones.

EVENTS:

• Volunteers from the Ocean County Master Gardener program will be on hand to talk to residents and answer questions at the County Connection office at the Ocean County Mall in Toms River from 5 to 8 p.m. this evening.
