$201K School Crossing Guard Services Contract Awarded In Bernards Township

The Township Committee approved a contract for 34 crossing guard posts during the 2026-27 school year.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Bernards Township has awarded a $201,000 contract for school crossing guard services for the 2026-27 school year.

The Township Committee voted on the resolution at its Aug. 11 meeting, awarding the bid to Crossing Guard Services, 750 Summer Street, Suite 750, Stamford, CT.

According to the explanatory statement attached to the resolution, Bernards Township is contracting with Crossing Guard Services to perform crossing guard duties at a total of 34 posts each day school is in session from Sept. 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027.

The bid sheet lists 30 posts at a markup rate of 1.585, with an hourly wage bill rate of $32.17 based on a $20.30 hourly wage, and four posts at the same markup rate, with an hourly wage bill rate of $36.28 based on a $22.89 hourly wage.

The resolution states that the recommendation to award the contract was made jointly by Chief of Police Tim King, the administrator and the purchasing agent.
