25 Years Of Acts Of Kindness Sparked By 9/11 To Be Honored In Basking Ridge

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Twenty-five years ago on Sept. 11, 2001, while there was much sadness and sorrow, the tragedy also brought hope and kindness as communities came together to help each other.

That is when Heartworks, a Basking Ridge non-profit acts of kindness group, was launched.

Heartworks is hosting an evening on Thursday, Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. at 19 Morristown Road in Basking Ridge, honoring 25 years of continued kindness.

This community gathering includes a reading of local names and a casual reception. No RSVP is needed.

Bernardsville native Megan McDowell started the nonprofit after learning her Basking Ridge brother-in-law, John Farrell, 41, had died in the south tower of the World Trade Center.
