2 Attempted Home Burglaries Reported In Nutley On Same Day

NUTLEY, NJ — Two attempted burglaries were recently reported in Nutley on the same day, authorities say.

According to the Nutley Police Department, both incidents took place on Sept. 7. Here’s what happened, authorities said:

Chestnut Street – Officers responded to Chestnut Street after getting a report about an attempted burglary. The resident said they were asleep when they heard a commotion outside their home. Looking at their doorbell camera, they saw an unknown man in a black mask trying to gain entry into the home. The attempt wasn’t successful, and the suspect fled the scene in a white Dodge Charger. The suspect was wearing a white sweatshirt with red lettering, black pants and gray gloves, police said.

Prospect Street – Officers responded to Prospect Street after getting a report about an attempted burglary. The resident told officers that they were sitting on the couch around 2:30 a.m. when their family dog started barking. When the resident checked outside of their front window, they saw two people run from their property and get into a white sedan. Surveillance footage shows the two suspects attempt to enter the home through the front door and a door next to the garage. Police said one suspect was wearing black sweatpants and a black hooded sweatshirt. The second suspect was wearing black-colored sweatpants and a white or grey hooded sweatshirt.
