Power Outage Hits Belleville School, Students Will Be Dismissed Early

The district reopened for in-person learning earlier this week after a major fire ravaged the township.

BELLEVILLE, NJ — Students at School 9 in Belleville were relocated to the high school on Friday after a power outage, administrators said.

“Due to a local power outage impacting School 9, and with PSE&G estimating restoration around 2:30 p.m., all students are being relocated to the Belleville High School auditorium for the remainder of the day,” district administrators reported.

School 9 will operate on a single session schedule, with dismissal at 12:30 p.m. The high school auditorium is located at 100 Passaic Avenue.

“For the safety and security of our students, all parents/guardians picking up students must present identification at pickup,” the Belleville Public School District stated.

“We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work through this unexpected situation,” administrators said.
