Berkeley Library Sets American Revolution Program

The free June 27 program at the Berkeley branch will cover Paul Revere, Bunker Hill and more.

BERKELEY, NJ — The Berkeley Branch of the Ocean County Library will host “Remembering the American Revolution” at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 27. The free program will feature lecturer Joel Farkas and will take place at the branch at 30 Station Road.

According to the library, Farkas of Revolutionary War Lectures will discuss the poem “Paul Revere’s Ride,” the painting Washington Crossing the Delaware, Bunker Hill, the Declaration of Independence, George Washington’s false teeth and other topics tied to the nation’s founding.

The library said Farkas is a tour guide for the National Park Service at Washington’s Headquarters in Morristown. According to the program description, he seeks to motivate audiences to learn more about the founding of the country and “the people and their sacrifices that resulted in the country we live in today.”

The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Berkeley Library. According to the library, the Friends of the Library provide local support for Ocean County Library branches, and funds raised are used to expand branch programming and support ongoing projects.

The library also said members of the Friends advocate within their communities by attending community and civic events and supporting the public library mission for Freedom to Read and Access to Information. The sponsorship helps make the Berkeley program available to the public at no charge.
