Berkeley Mayor Sends Back-To-School Message On Safety, Support

BERKELEY, NJ — Berkeley Township Mayor John Bacchione shared a back-to-school message wishing students, teachers, administrators and school staff a safe and successful year as children return to class.

"As our children head back to school, I want to wish every student, teacher, administrator, and school staff member a safe and wonderful year ahead," Bacchione said in the message. He centered the note on student well-being and the community's role in supporting children during the school year.

"Our children’s safety must always be a top priority. As a community, we all have a role to play in creating safe schools and making sure our students have the support and resources they need to learn, grow and succeed," Bacchione said. The message also thanked the people involved in students' daily routines and school safety.

"I am grateful to our school staff, police officers, crossing guards, bus drivers, parents, and everyone who works each day to keep our children safe," Bacchione said. The statement did not announce any new school policies or safety measures, but it underscored a community-wide focus on students as the academic year begins.

Bacchione also addressed students directly with encouragement for the months ahead. "To all our students: work hard, be kind, ask questions, make new friends, and never be afraid to dream big. Your community is proud of you and cheering you on!"

The mayor closed the message with a brief wish for the year ahead: "Have a successful school year!"
