“In a career spanning nearly 40 years, Patrick Burns has enjoyed success in virtually every part of the music field: orchestral clarinetist, conductor of bands and orchestras, university theory professor and band director, composer, orchestrator of video game music, talent relations manager for a luxury-level entertainment company, and public school music educator. His music for band has been played on six continents and his music for video games has been recorded by the Prague FilmHarmonic orchestra. He is now in his 40th year as founding director of the Bloomfield Youth Band, which he started in 1986 at the age of 17, with his high school friends. In 2011, he began a 13-year tenure at New Jersey City University as wind ensemble director, and built the program into a highly successful university band. As he begins his new role as director of the Kean University community wind ensemble, he looks forward to working with everyone at the university in the pursuit of building a strong and enduring family of musicians who are eager to bring their passion for music to the Kean community and far beyond.”
