Grammy Award-Winners Will Perform French Music In Bloomfield

Grammy Award-winning musicians Greg and Patricia Zuber will present an afternoon of French music for flute and marimba in Bloomfield.

Multiple Grammy Award-winning musicians Greg and Patricia Zuber, aka “Duo Zuber,” will present an afternoon of French music for flute and marimba on Sunday, March 8 at 3 p.m. in Bloomfield’s historic Sanctuary on the Green.

Duo Zuber will perform a program of French music by composers Massenet, Debussy, Satie, and Messiaen, adapted by Mr. Zuber for flute and marimba, including Debussy’s masterpiece, “Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun.”

Duo Zuber consists of Greg Zuber on marimba and Patricia Zuber on flute. Greg Zuber is principal percussionist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and teaches at The Juilliard School. Patricia Zuber performs with major orchestras in the New York City area as well as the Santa Fe Opera.

Both artists are multiple Grammy Award winners for performances with the Metropolitan Opera.

Together, they have commissioned over twenty works for flute and marimba, greatly expanding the repertoire of this combination of instruments. They have recorded two albums, Blackbird Redux and Reimagined, Les Symbolistes: Debussy and Satie.

The concert is presented by the Sanctuary on the Green Alliance (SOGA), a secular nonprofit organization working alongside the Bloomfield Presbyterian Church on the Green to restore the historic Sanctuary and promote its use as a center for arts, culture and community in the heart of Bloomfield. It is part of the “Sanctuary Sounds” series that brings live chamber music to Bloomfield Center.
