Join us for a free special book club discussion of The Boy from the North Country by Sam Sussman, a deeply moving novel about family, memory, identity, and the lasting power of a mother’s love. Author Sam Sussman will join us virtually, giving participants the unique opportunity to hear directly from him, gain deeper insight into the novel’s personal inspiration, and ask questions about the story and his writing process.

When twenty-six-year-old Evan is called home from his life abroad, he returns to the secluded farmhouse where he was raised by his mother, June. There, he learns that she is dying and begins to uncover truths she has kept hidden for years, including the identity of his biological father and the story of her emotionally turbulent relationship with Bob Dylan.

As Evan cares for his mother and listens to the stories of the life she led before he was born, he begins to understand her in an entirely new way. What unfolds is both a compelling family mystery and a tender exploration of the bond between a mother and son.

Inspired by the author’s own uncertainty surrounding his paternity, The Boy from the North Country examines loss, healing, memory, and the ways love can shape us long after the truth is revealed. A finalist for the 75th National Jewish Book Awards, the novel offers readers a powerful and intimate story with much to explore.

Whether you have finished the book or simply want to be part of a meaningful conversation, we invite you to join us for a thoughtful discussion and a special opportunity to spend time with the author behind the story.

Free to attend. Registration is required.
