Chemist Is Brewing Up Something Great At New Cozy Cafe In Somerset County

RARITAN, NJ — A former chemist is stepping away from the lab to follow her childhood dream of owning her own business.

Kaitlyn Oh of Somerset recently opened Cozy Home Cafe on July 11 at 2 Somerset St. in Downtown Raritan.

"I worked in corporate, and I was a chemist for several years," said Oh.

However, she ended up stepping away to pursue her dream.

Oh said she started working in different coffee shops for four years, learning the tricks of the trade before she "managed to get the opportunity to open up my own shop."

She found her location on Somerset Street and is very happy "because this town is really great, very sweet people, and I like the small town vibes."

Oh noted the town and her church community in Somerset have all been very supportive of her cafe.

"It's like working but not working. I'm enjoying what I do. So it's very fun every day. And I have a very great staff. So working with them is very awesome," said Oh.

The cafe offers a wide variety of drinks, from coffees to teas to hot chocolates. There are also unique offerings such as the red cappuccino, black sesame mocha hojicha latte, matcha mojito, and more.

Cozy Home Cafe also partners with local small businesses, showcasing their products for sale.

The cafe is open Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

"I just hope that people come in and enjoy the space. I really hope that they can find their home away from home here," said Oh.
