Healthy Hearts, Happy Hearts Open House at Kangaroo Kids

Where little hearts and minds grow strong and families feel at home.

Kangaroo Kids Child Care and Learning Center’s Healthy Hearts, Happy Starts Open House, held on Friday, February 20th, was a big success! Families from Bridgewater, Branchburg, Somerville and surrounding communities came to learn about good nutrition, healthy teeth, and fun fitness.

Participants enjoyed music and dancing with Miss Jo-Ann Zagari, they learned Bollywood dancing from Kangaroo Kids' Preschool Lead teacher Miss Vaishali Bichkule and Deepti Mundi and they watched a Hip Hop dance demonstration from one of Kangaroo Kids' Alumni. The Teddy Bear Hospital was open for treatment, or just a loving hug, from Kangaroo Kids' Kindergarten Teacher, Miss Crystal Romyns, and Kangaroo Kids' parent, Miss Anna Stephan from AHS, and healthy nutrition activities were provided by Kangaroo Kids' parent, Miss Tina Clabbers. Miss Denise Bayles of Bayles Family Speech Center gave parents information on Speech therapy, and yoga and meditation were provided by Mamata Yaidya, Neha Jain, Divya Shrivastava, Shilpi Khave, Shilpi Chattopadbyay from Sahaya Yoga. Corrine VanNest, Kangaroo Kids Curriculum Coordinator, and Sandy Chacon, Nina Melo and Kathi Bennett from Branchburg Pediatric Dentistry filled the room with dental health activities. Dr. Aaadya Sharma from AHS, showed the families how to take their blood pressure. Scott Skvivanek from Somerville Rescue Squad also was a participant in the event. Children had the opportunity to make decorate heart cards, which are being sent to the Pediatric Wing to our friends at CHOP. Kangaroo Kids' teacher, Miss Fatima Morin, hosted fitness activities for the whole family, and Miss Carol McKinnie taught children how to give their parents hand massages! Kangaroo Kids' team, Miss Jackie Russano-Weiss and Miss Lisa Buonomo, welcomed all participants and coordinated our Healthy Bingo activity, while Sparkee from the Somerset Patriots was a big hit as he danced and posed for photos throughout the event!

Throughout the month of February, children learned all about keeping their hearts healthy, good nutrition, and dental care at Kangaroo Kids. It is also a month for parents to learn about all the classes offered for the September 2026 school year!

March is Kangaroo Kids' Open House month - families are welcome to stop by for a visit to meet the teachers, visit the classrooms, and pick up hOppy surprise! March is also "Be A Kangaroo Kid for a Day", a free trial class is offered for all prospective families.
