Residents Escape House Fire With Help Of Neighbors In Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Bridgewater residents escaped a house fire on Sunday with the help of their neighbors, said Bill Rose with the Martinsville Volunteer Fire Department.

The fire was reported just after 11 a.m. on Roger Avenue in the Martinsville section of the Township.

Firefighters arrived to find a working fire on the second floor with flames, Rose told Patch.

"Residents were out of the structure upon our arrival and were assisted by neighbors," said Rose.

There were no reported injuries to either residents or firefighters.

The Red Cross of New Jersey helped the family of two with emergency assistance for temporary lodging, food, clothing, and other immediate needs.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Bridgewater Township Fire Officials' office.
