SUV Crosses Route 22, Hits 3 Cars, Crashes Into Building In Bridgewater: Police
A driver and their juvenile passenger were hospitalized following the crash on Wednesday.
BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A driver lost control while trying to merge onto Route 22, causing the SUV to cross three lanes of the highway before hitting three vehicles and crashing into a building, Bridgewater Police said.
On Wednesday, at around 4:56 p.m., a 2007 Dodge Durango was leaving the Wendy’s driveway onto Route 22 East.
While trying to merge, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which crossed three lanes of the highway and hit the back of a 2020 Toyota Corolla driving east in the left lane, said Bridgewater Police Sgt. Kevin Florczak.

After the crash, the Dodge Durango continued out of control, swerving from the left lane back across all three lanes to the right, said Florczak.
While crossing the highway, the Durango hit a 2013 Honda CR-V driving in the center-right lane and a 2022 Toyota Highlander driving in the right acceleration lane, said Florczak.

The Durango then left the highway on the right side, drove across the grass shoulder, and hit the Concentra Urgent Care building at 350 Grove Street, causing minor damage to the building.
Officers found the driver of the Durango unconscious and appearing to be experiencing a medical emergency, said Florczak.
The driver was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for treatment.
A juvenile passenger in the vehicle was also taken to the hospital for evaluation.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla sustained minor injuries but declined medical treatment.
All other involved drivers were uninjured.
