Caldwell University's Department of English will host The Sister Elizabeth Michael Boyle, O.P., Annual Poetry Celebration, 11:30 am - 12:50 pm, Wednesday, September 30, in the Westervelt Lecture Hall. Poet Judith Valente will be reading from her latest collection of poems, How to Be a Contemplative (Kelsay Books, 2025). Valente is a former staff writer for The Wall Street Journal and correspondent for national PBS-TV. Her first collection, a chapbook entitled Inventing An Alphabet was chosen by Mary Oliver for the 2005 Aldrich Poetry Prize. This event remembers and honors Sister Elizabeth Michael Boyle, long-time faculty member and chair of the Department of English, award-winning poet, and beloved mentor of the University's former poetry-writing group The Tower Poets.
