Come dance at Swingin' Tern Dances in Chatham!

Contra is the perfect social dance for new dancers. The beginners’ lesson at the start is all you need to enjoy your first evening of dancing. Contra dancing is a fun, easy-to-learn style of social dance in a supportive, inter-generational, inclusive community. It’s the cool cousin to square dancing—with hot live bands. A hot band is exactly what we have for this dance with OAO playing amazing tunes with Adina Gordon calling.

If you are new to contra dancing, come for our evening dance on any first and third Saturday evening. Knowing how to dance is not necessary since the caller prompts the moves and guides the dancers. A lesson is given at 7pm prior to the dance to learn basic terminology and some of the dance moves. It’s fine to come alone since folks switch partners between each dance.
