Chatham Eats: Four Weekend Stops Worth A Taste

CHATHAM, NJ — Whether the weekend calls for live music, a serious steak dinner or a slow brunch, diners have four different options in and around Chatham from Friday through Sunday.

At River Grille, Friday dinner comes with a soundtrack. Spare Tire Band is scheduled to perform from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. at 34 River Road. The restaurant’s menu ranges from burgers, wings and cheesesteaks to Scottish salmon, chicken Milanese and white truffle macaroni and cheese.

For a night out, Chatham Steakhouse is serving dinner throughout the weekend at 219 Main Street. The restaurant specializes in USDA Prime beef dry-aged for at least 28 days, along with seafood, pasta and family-style sides. It is BYOB with no corkage fee.

Weekend mornings can take a French turn at Fleur de Sel Patisserie Bistro, 265 Main Street. The menu includes pain perdu with berries, ham-and-cheese crêpes, omelets and quiche, alongside croissants, éclairs, macarons and fruit tarts. Because the bakery’s official pages show conflicting hours, diners may want to call ahead.

Nearby, Summit House serves brunch Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Choices include maple-bourbon apple pancakes, crab Benedict, chicken and waffles, brioche French toast, steak and eggs, and raw-bar selections.

Chatham diners have several weekend choices: turn up the music, bring a bottle, reach for a croissant or make brunch the main event.
