Chatham Launches Property Revaluation Ahead Of 2027 Tax Year
Inspectors from Appraisal Systems, Inc. will visit every property in the township to conduct interior and exterior assessments.
CHATHAM, NJ - Chatham Township has launched a revaluation of all taxable real estate ahead of the 2027 tax year, with property inspections set to begin in the coming months.
The township has contracted with Appraisal Systems, Inc. to conduct the program, as directed by the Morris County Board of Taxation and the New Jersey Division of Taxation. The revaluation is intended to ensure uniform and equitable assessments across the township.
Inspectors will visit every property to measure and photograph building exteriors and inspect interiors. First visits will be unannounced between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. If a homeowner is not home, the inspector will leave a card with a return date and a phone number to reschedule.

ASI representatives will carry photo identification, and their names have been registered with the Chatham Township Police Department and the Township Clerk's office. Residents are advised not to allow entry without proper identification.
All new property values will reflect estimated market value as of Oct. 1, 2026, as required by state law. Property owners will be notified by mail of their proposed assessed values and will have the opportunity to contest them.
