THE 2026 CAMDEN AREA COMMUNITY CLOTHING DISTRIBUTION PROJECT
For the sixth year in a row, community resource and charitable organizations in Camden and Pennsauken are coordinating with the Camden congregations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to distribute gently used men’s, women’s and children’s clothing to those in need on October 16th and 17th, 2026.
More than 2,000 free vouchers have been distributed.to individuals and families in need will bring their vouchers to the Camden meetinghouse at 3303 Federal Street in Camden on Friday, October 16th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. OR Saturday, October 17th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.They will be able to fill a provided bag with free clothing for each member of their family.
The Humanitarian Department of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, part of Latter-day Saint Charities located in Salt Lake City, Utah, shipped over 6,500 pounds of clothing to the Church’s Camden meetinghouse. The tractor trailer arrived earlier in the week and was unloaded with the help of local volunteers. The tractor trailer then moved on to its next stops in Philadelphia, Valley Forge, Reading and Wilmington DE, where similar clothing distributions are taking place at the same time.
In the days prior to the distribution event, volunteers set up the building, built clothing racks, and sorted and organized the clothing.
The free clothing distribution days are being staffed by volunteers from the Church and the local participating community resources and charitable organizations. Any clothing remaining will be donated to a local charity.
With the city of Camden ranking as one of the poorest cities in the United States, our hope is that this project will help form stronger community relationships and meet local community needs.
