Fires At NJ Recycling Facility Spark Legal, Community Response

CAMDEN, NJ — The community is invited to an update and listening session regarding a state lawsuit against EMR Advanced Recycling after more than 12 fires have broken out at its facility.

New Jersey has filed a public nuisance lawsuit against the business, saying says they are guilty of hazardous practices.

EMR reopened in late July after concerns of more fires led to the temporary suspension of work at the facility.

Company officials highlighted a plethora of adjustments to technology and procedures they say their operations have incorporated over the shutdown.

Still, officials want to ensure that the facility is held accountable for its actions.

The Department of Environmental Protection will be joined by the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General Division of Law on September 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. at 1840 S. Broadway.

Guests will be able to ask questions, give feedback, and hear about the actions that New Jersey is taking to protect the health and safety of its residents.

Both in-person and virtual attendance are options.

Registration is strongly recommended.
