CINNAMINSON, NJ — The Cinnaminson Branch Library is undergoing a $300,000 renovation to make it "more accessible and responsive to residents' needs."

The first major improvements at the facility in more than 20 years will include a new collaborative technology center, a dedicated teen space, and more accessible restrooms.

"We know teens today face new and unique challenges brought on by social media use and pressures from academic expectations," Burlington County Library System Director Ranjna Das told Patch. "Library spaces offer a welcoming environment where they can be themselves."

Around $250,000 of the $1 million appropriation secured in 2023 state grants for capital improvements to the Burlington County Library System is covering the renovations.

Another $50,000 was contributed by "The Friends of the Cinnaminson Library" group for furnishing and equipment.

"Our next phase is to use these spaces to engage the public in creative and collaborative pursuits," said Das. "This means designing rooms meant for groups to meet and work together, and providing the tools and techniques to facilitate those gatherings."

According to the County, the work is estimated to continue through the spring and be finished by the summer.

The Cinnaminson Branch, located at 1619 Riverton Rd., became the Burlington County Library System's first branch in 1966.
