Auto Theft, Fleeing Suspect Arrests Reported In Cranford

Police say one case involved a stolen vehicle while another stemmed from a motor vehicle stop that led to an arrest.

CRANFORD, NJ — Two separate incidents last month in Cranford included a stolen vehicle case and an arrest following a motor vehicle stop, according to information released by police.

In one incident, officers said a 32-year-old Bronx man was found in connection with a stolen vehicle during a motor vehicle stop investigation on South Avenue on May 29. The individual was released pending a future court appearance.

In a separate case earlier in the month, officers said a 39-year-old East Orange man was arrested following a motor vehicle crash investigation on Orange Avenue on May 3 after the vehicle he was operating allegedly fled the area during the incident. He was later sent to the Union County Jail pending court proceedings.

Both incidents were among a series of arrests and investigations handled by Cranford police throughout May.

Officials have not released additional details beyond the initial charges.
