East Brunswick Police Lieutenant Completes Prestigious FBI National Academy Program

The 15-year veteran of the police department completed the prestigious 10-week program at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — A 15-year veteran of the East Brunswick Police Department has graduated from the FBI National Academy, one of the most selective professional development programs in law enforcement.

Lt. Jason Fama completed the 10-week program at the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA., graduating as part of the 297th Session on March 18, the police department said. He was among 253 law enforcement professionals from 48 states and the District of Columbia who completed the session, which also included participants from 24 countries, four military organizations and four federal civilian organizations.

"We are incredibly proud of Lieutenant Fama's accomplishment," Police Chief Frank LoSacco said in a statement. "His completion of the FBI National Academy reflects his dedication to professional growth and leadership. The knowledge and skills he has gained will further strengthen our department's mission to provide exceptional service to our community."

Fama has served in the East Brunswick Police Department's Operations, Investigative and Administrative divisions throughout his 15-year career. He currently serves as the department's Internal Affairs Commander, Public Information Officer and Deputy Coordinator for the East Brunswick Office of Emergency Management.

He also serves as the department's Law Enforcement Accreditation Program Manager, Firearms Instructor and a certified Police Training Commission instructor.

Established in 1935 under FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, the National Academy is a rigorous professional development course designed for law enforcement leaders from across the United States and around the world.

The program covers advanced training in leadership, communication, national security, terrorism and counterterrorism, crisis negotiations, resiliency and physical fitness, while building professional partnerships among participants.
