Picture Middlesex County Photo Contest Returns With New Video Option For 2026

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ — Middlesex County has reopened its Picture Middlesex County contest for the spring season and is accepting both photo and video submissions for the first time, the county announced.

Residents have until Tuesday, June 2, to submit entries capturing life and nature across the county. Winning submissions, selected by an anonymous judging committee, will be displayed at future county events and featured in county marketing materials.

"As we officially enter the spring season, the Picture Middlesex County contest is the perfect opportunity for residents to step outside and capture the beautiful locations, communities, and moments that make our County special," Commissioner Director Ronald G. Rios said in a statement.

Rios said he was particularly excited about the new video category, which he said allows residents to celebrate what makes the county unique through their own lenses.

The contest is open to amateurs and professionals of all ages. Participants 17 and under must have parental or guardian consent on the entry form.

Photos and videos must be taken within Middlesex County during the contest window, which runs from March 24 through June 2. Each participant may submit up to two photos or videos per category, and videos must run 30 seconds or less.

Entries are accepted in six categories:

• Nature and Scenery
• Wildlife and Pets
• Arts and Culture
• Historic Moments
• Culinary Expression
• People and Community

Eligible entries will be posted to a new album on the county's Facebook page after the contest closes. Winners will be announced on the county's Facebook, Instagram and X accounts, as well as on the official Picture Middlesex County landing page.
