Somerset Co. Prosecutor's Office Top Chief Charged With DUI
A senior official with the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office is facing DUI charges. Chief of Detectives Francisco "Frank" Roman Jr. was arrested Saturday in Somerville and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to court records.

Roman has spent 25 years in New Jersey law enforcement, building his entire career within the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office. Over the course of his tenure, he rose through multiple divisions — including narcotics, organized crime, and major crimes — before reaching his current command position.

Officer Injured When Fleeing Burglary Suspects Crash Into Patrol Car
A Princeton police officer was hospitalized Friday night after fleeing burglary suspects crashed into a patrol vehicle, authorities said. The incident began around 7:54 p.m. when a Coniston Court resident called 911 to report hearing unknown intruders inside her home.
When officers arrived, they spotted several suspects leaving the residence and watched them flee in a vehicle. The pursuit ended in a head-on collision with a patrol car, injuring an officer.

Morris County Man Killed In I-287 Crash
A Wharton man was killed early Sunday after his SUV slammed into a parked tractor-trailer on Interstate 287 in Morristown, state police said. Attem Petiukh, 37, died from injuries he suffered in the crash, which was reported around 4:15 a.m.
Troopers responding to the northbound highway near milepost 35.8 determined that Petiukh was navigating a left curve when the front of his Honda SUV struck the rear of a Volvo semitrailer that had been parked on the right shoulder.

Man Tased After Breaking Windows Of NJ Borough Hall
The incident occurred Friday night and caused "significant damage" to four of the front windows of Borough Hall, officials said.

Bergen County Man Killed When SUV Veers Off Road
An Elmwood Park man was killed on Sunday night when his SUV veered off the Garden State Parkway, state police said.
Joel Hernandez, 25, left the road in Washington Township heading southbound around 11:14 p.m., said Trooper Christopher Postorino of the state police.

2-Alarm Blaze Rips Through Building In Camden
A two-alarm fire tore through a Camden building Saturday afternoon, engulfing the upper floors before crews brought the blaze under control, according to news reports.
Westmont Fire Company No. 1 arrived on scene shortly after noon to find the second and third floors fully involved, with heavy smoke pouring from the structure, News12 reported.
Firefighters extinguished the fire within two hours. It was not immediately clear whether anyone was injured, and the cause remains under investigation.
