Edison Launches Community Solar Program To Cut Residents' Electric Bills

Eligible PSE&G customers can save 45 percent on solar credits with no cost to join.

EDISON, NJ — Edison Township has announced a new Community Solar program in partnership with Solar Simplified, allowing eligible PSE&G residential customers to save money on their electric bills without installing rooftop panels or changing their existing PSE&G service.

Through the program, eligible customers can subscribe to a nearby solar project and receive solar credits directly on their existing PSE&G electric bill, reducing the amount owed each month. Participants are guaranteed to save 45% on the value of the solar credits applied to their bill, with no cost to join, no installation, no long-term commitment and no cancellation fees. Enrollment is first come, first served and will remain open until the available solar capacity is filled.

"My administration is dedicated to creating opportunities and partnerships through initiatives like Solar Simplified to benefit residents and make Edison a more affordable place to live, work, and raise a family," Mayor Sam Joshi said.

Solar Simplified provides consolidated billing, meaning there is no second bill, no credit checks and no autopay required — everything is managed through residents' existing PSE&G accounts.

At least 51 percent of the project's capacity is reserved for low- and moderate-income households. Households already enrolled in programs such as HEAP, SNAP or HUD housing assistance automatically qualify as income-eligible, and many additional households may qualify based on income alone even without participating in an assistance program. Township officials said participation does not affect eligibility for other benefits or housing status for residents in subsidized or income-restricted housing.

"Community Solar is one of the easiest ways for households to lower their electric bills while supporting clean, locally generated energy," said Aviv Shalgi, CEO of Solar Simplified. "We encourage Edison residents to take a look at the program, especially those who may qualify through income-based eligibility or assistance programs. Many households are surprised to learn they qualify, and dedicated capacity has been reserved to help ensure these savings remain available."

Over the coming months, Solar Simplified will work with local community organizations, senior-serving groups, affordable housing partners and other stakeholders to raise awareness of the program and assist with enrollment.

Residents can enroll online at SolarSimplified.com/Edison or by phone at (888) 420-9831.
