IHOP Pancake House Fire: Owner Gives Update On Bergen County Location's Fate

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ — A day after a fire tore through the International House of Pancakes in Hasbrouck Heights, the fate of the restaurant remained uncertain.

The pancake house was severely damaged in the three-alarm blaze that broke out Monday morning.

The Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department said the fire was brought under control by 9 a.m.

The area of Route 17 South near Franklin Avenue was temporarily closed while firefighters fought the blaze.

A spokesperson for IHOP told Patch on Tuesday, “We are aware of a fire that occurred yesterday morning at our Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, location. The safety of our guests and team members is our top priority, and we are grateful that no injuries were reported."

IHOP Franchisee Matthew Epstein said, "The restaurant is currently closed, and we are working closely with local authorities as they gather more information."

The company did not respond to questions about a timeline for reopening.

Those with a hankering for pancakes can try the other Bergen County IHOP locations in Fair Lawn, Teaneck, Englewood, or Ramsey. A new location is planned in Lodi, as well.
