Officer Severely Injured In Hit-And-Run: NJ State Police
The officer was conducting a traffic stop when a passing vehicle made contact, then fled the scene, according to police.
SADDLE BROOK, NJ — A Saddle Brook police officer was severely injured in a hit-and-run Sunday morning, according to state police.
The officer was conducting a traffic stop around 4:30 a.m. on a Nissan Maxima in the deceleration lane of eastbound Interstate 80 at milepost 62.4, police said, when a passing vehicle struck the officer and the Maxima's left side before fleeing.
The officer suffered serious injuries, according to police, but the Maxima's occupants were not hurt.

"When you see emergency responders, law enforcement, tow truck operators, highway workers, or a disabled vehicle stopped on the side of the road with flashing lights, New Jersey’s Move Over Law requires you to safely move over one lane when possible," state police said in a social media post about the crash.
"If you cannot safely move over, slow down below the posted speed limit and be prepared to stop."
